11 November, 2011

DTZ is pleased to announce being appointed local exclusive leasing agent of Yuzhnaya Galereya Shopping Centre in Simferopol (previously known as Inter Mall Shopping and Entertainment Centre).

40 000 sq m GLA Yuzhnaya Galereya (YUG) is situated at 189 Kievskaya Street, which is the city’s largest highway heading through the centre to the airport, providing strong touristic traffic.

Completion of the 2nd phase of the project in the third quarter of the next year will strengthen the centre’s position by enabling it to become a major shopping destination not only for citizens and visitors of Simferopol, but also the population of nearby cities and Crimea as a whole. As mentioned, YUG is being commissioned in phases by Arricano Development. The first phase, totalling 13 000 sq m and in operation since 2008, is comprised of furniture discounter JYSK, electronics store Comfy, and a gallery that includes Intertop, Brocard and Yves Rocher.

The second phase of 26 500 sq m is planned for commissioning in September 2012 and will make YUG the first shopping centre that corresponds to the highest European retail development standards in the region. Upon completion it will include a gallery of Ukrainian and international fashion brands, a hypermarket, food court, cinema, entertainment zones as well as parking for 1162 cars.

DTZ, with extensive experience in leasing and managing large shopping centres across Ukraine, has been commissioned as local exclusive leasing agent of YUG.

Nataliya Mykolaychuk, Associate Director and Head of Retail at DTZ Ukraine commented:

“For now, Simferopol and Crimean Region as a whole has no shopping and entertainment centres that could be described as a modern and high quality retail developments from the perspective of the tenant mix, location, format, as well as architectural and engineering components. YUG, a spacious shopping gallery and large entertainment zone with a cinema, will become an alternative to beach leisure for the Crimean population and also lay the foundations for a new level in quality shopping.”
