EPC programme management for Warner Estate’s APIA Regional Office Fund

Throughout 2008 and 2009, DTZ’s sustainability team worked with Warner Estates to manage completion of EPC assessments across the APIA Portfolio of properties.

Overview

DTZ was appointed to project-manage the completion of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) across the APIA Regional Office Fund. This fund consists of 22 properties located throughout the UK and remains one of only a few specialist funds investing exclusively in city centre offices outside Central London.

EPCs were introduced into the UK as a result of the EU’s Energy Performance in Buildings Regulations. DTZ clients now wishing to sell or lease properties must provide prospective new tenants or occupiers with a valid EPC and accompanying recommendation report.

What DTZ did

DTZ worked with Warner Estates to develop an EPC compliance management programme for the APIA fund. This involved:

  • Evaluation of EPC compliance requirements in England, Wales and Scotland
  • Confirmation of EPC requirements at individual properties with regard to sale and lease plans
  • Completion of EPC assessments (in line with planned timescales) using DTZ energy panel consultants

Results

DTZ successfully coordinated completion of EPCs for the client in line with legal requirements in a cost-effective manner.

DTZ now also provides EPC assessments using our own in-house team and can also help clients wishing to comply with other legal requirements, including air conditioning systems inspections and display energy certificates.
